Department of Census and Statistics survey has revealed, that the problem of unemployment is more acute in the case of educated females compared to educated males.
Sri Lanka’s economically active population is about 8.9 million in the first quarter 2015.
63.3 percent are males and 36.7 percent are females. Out of the economically inactive population 25.9 percent are males and 74.1 percent are females.
During the first quarter of 2015, the number of unemployed persons is estimated as bout 422,446.
