Defence co-operation between Sri Lanka and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) is now in the pipeline, the Fiju Sun reported.
This was revealed after highly decorated Sri Lankan officer, Major-General Aruna Perera, met with Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama in Suva, the Fijian capital, on Monday.
Major General Perera mentioned Sri Lanka’s offer to work to assist the RFMF and added that he was happy with the Prime Minister’s response.
The RFMF Land Force Commander, Colonel Sitiveni Qiliho who was also at the meeting told the Fiji Sun he would be looking into the defence co-operation.
Major-General Perera said he would like RFMF to send some senior officers to Sri Lanka to look at their military operations and later prepare the defence co-operation between the two defence forces.
