Police investigations have come to a halt into the presence of an armed bodyguard of MP Namal Rajapaksa at a rally attended by president Maithripala Sirisena in Angunukolapelessa on April 25, ‘Ravaya’ reports.
When contacted, police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said statements were to be recorded from several eyewitnesses and some others.
Police arrested the pistol-wielding bodyguard, a corporal of the Army, who had infiltrated president Sirisena’s security net at the rally.
An ASP of the PSD was taken into custody as well.
Later, both were released on bail.
