Tourist arrivals to the country have risen by 21.5% within the first ten months of this year, in comparison to the same time period last year.
The Monthly Bulletin of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority reveals the arrival of Chinese tourists has increased by 139% within this time-frame.
According to the Tourism Development Authority a total of 1,228,754 tourist arrivals have been recorded over the past ten months.
The report further reads that, of the top ten countries in terms of tourist arrivals, the highest number of tourists have arrived to the country from India while the United Kingdom is the second highest. It also says that there is a 4.4% surge in tourist arrivals from the United Kingdom in comparison to the previous year.
A significant factor mentioned in the Monthly Bulletin of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority is the fact that the arrival of Chinese tourists to the country has risen by a staggering 139% making them the third highest number of tourist arrivals as at the end of October 2014.
