Tempers flared at the cabinet meeting yesterday (05) when ministers argued over the Avant Garde incident, say political source.
Rajitha Senaratne and Champika Ranawaka stressed they would leave the government if a proper investigation was not conducted.
President Maithripala Sirisena has convened a meeting of the government parliamentary group today to discuss the matter.
At the cabinet meeting, Rajitha, Champika as well as Arjuna Ranatunga noted they could not face the electorate due to JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s criticism of the president and the prime minister over the Avant Garde incident.
They stressed that it was none other than them who had formed this good governance regime, and a group of outsiders now in the government were committing fraud.
