Wheat flour companies have decided to increase the price of the product by two rupees per kilogram. Accordingly the price of a kilogram of wheat flour was 87 rupees and will be increased to 89 rupees.
The companies stated that the price was increased to offset the National building levy which was introduced in the budget 2016.
Meanwhile the Bakery Owners Association stated that the prices of all bakery products will have to be increased due to the price hike of wheat flour.
President of the Association N.K. Jayewardene told our news team that the price of a loaf of bread will be increased between two to four rupees.
