The government has decided to amend the Agrahara insurance so as to benefit pensioners.
Secretary to the ministry of Public Administration and Management, J. Dadallage said that they received the approval of the cabinet in this regard.
Government workers previously requested that the benefits granted by the Agrahara insurance be increased due to the rise in medical expenses. Accordingly, the Agrahara insurance will be provided in two packages in the future, and will be paid in premiums.
The official committee has handed over the document of recommendations to the cabinet for perusal. The Secretary added that under this scheme, a death gratuity and several other benefits will be provided.
